I wanted to tell you a little about me, the creator of this blog. Then you can decide whether or not to believe the things I post 😉
My name is Colleen Messmer, RN, BSN, IBCLC. I studied nursing at Saint Mary's College in South Bend, Indiana and have been practicing as a registered nurse since graduation. While studying for my undergraduate degree, I found my passion to be maternal and infant health, and I have been blessed to practice as a mother-baby nurse. Over the years, I have gained real, practical experience working with a variety of families that have unique needs and goals.
I decided to increase my knowledge of all things breastfeeding by pursuing the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) credential. This is a certification achieved by completing education hours and providing breastfeeding assistance. Finally, to prove you know your stuff, you need to successfully pass an exam. I continue to bolster my knowledge by working with new families and being a member of the International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA).
